Index Drives to Search Files Faster on Windows 8

If you have switched to Windows 8 from Windows 7, you might notice that search option is not very strong. When you search something on Windows 8 it doesnt show the files stored on Hard Disk. It only searches on some specific locations. Because other hard drives are not automatically indexed.
If you wanna enhance your search experience then you should index all the drives of your computer in the indexing service. If your drives are indexed then your search item will appear immediately as you type.
Okay lets start:
- Go to Control Panel (Hint: Start + R > type Control > press Enter)
- Hit on the Indexing Options
- Click on Modify button
- Select all the Drives as shown in the image below
- Hit OK
- Thats it. Now within few hours your all files and folders will be indexed to the indexing service.
Note: If you wanna omit any drive from indexing then unmark it.

How to Show Hidden Files Folders of a Flash Drive Caused by Virus

USB flash drive or Memory Card is a great device for sharing files and folders, audio and video, software etc. But at the same time this type of device is also responsible for spreading virus too! A virus can be easily copied from one PC to another by USB flash drives.
When a PC has no virus protection or not having enough protection be careful when inserting your flash drive in that PC. Because it can affect the software or program stored on it. And other files like image, audio or video generally not affected by virus. But they may be hidden permanently.
So, in this post, I am gonna show how to view the hidden files of a flash drive. Lets find out how.
- Open My Computer.
- Now click on Folder Options located under tools menu.
- Now hit on View Tab.
- Now select the Show hidden files and folders.
- Deselect both Hide protected operating files and Hide extensions for known file types.
- Now click on Apply > OK.
Note: This system works for all versions of windows. But in windows 7 and 8 you may not find the menu bar. In windows 7 to show menu bar press the Alt key then select the tools menu. And Windows 8 users will find it in Windows Explorer at the top right corner of the screen located under view tab named as Options.
Tips: To protect your files from viruses you can simply store the files in .zip format. Because a virus cant enter into the zipped files normally. To do so, first select the files you wanna zip and then click right button of mouse and send to Compressed (zipped) folder.

Play all kinds of Audio and Video Files!

Almost all of you sometimes face problem with playing audio or video files. Specially video files with extension like .mkv may bother you. Today I am gonna show you the way to avoid such kind of problems.
This problem occurs when you have no sufficient codec pack installed on your PC. Windows Media Player cant play some files if codec is not installed. In that case you can use media player like VLC, KMPlayer etc. But this is not the real solution actually. Because sometimes VLC may fail to play all the files.
You can choose any of the following method to avoid problems regarding any type of media files.
Method 1: Use Splayer as your default media player. It can play any type audio or video files. It is very fast, light and simple. Download link.
Method 2: Use K-Lite Codec Pack. It will work as codec as well as media player. If it is installed on your system, then Windows Media Player can also play any type of media file. Download link.
Method 3: Use Windows 7 Codecs if youre using Windows 7. If it is installed on your system then any media player including WMP, VLC, KMP can play almost all types of video files. Download link.
My personal choice is Splayer .

Join Audio Files and Convert it to a Single File!

In my very last post, you learned how to cut an audio file. Today youre gonna learn the opposite thing! Today Im gonna write about how to join some audio files to convert them into a single file.
You may like a song very much. But you may dislike the few parts of the same song. What do you do then? Split the song as you like and listen to them separately? You may do so but this is really uncomfortable.
Better you join the files into a single file. There are many programs to join the audio. For your convenience I will use Shuangs Audio Joiner. It has following advantages:
- Portable (No installation required)
- Easy and friendly interface
- Free or charge
- Compatible with all running version of Windows
- Options to control the output file format and size
There is a single problem that is very irritating is that it is little bit slower. However as a free tool I think this is very handy.
So we can start our tutorial. Follow the simple instruction below:
- Download the zipped file from the link below. Its 1.3 MB in size.
- Unzip the folder and keep it in a safe location on your Hard Drive.
- Open the folder and hit on AudioJoiner.exe (You can also create a shortcut of it on your desktop).
- Hit on Add button > Find and select your audio files > Click on Join button > Choose Output Format > Next > Choose Bitrate (Select 128 or less to save time) > Next > Select Destination > Give a Name > Hit on Join.
- Now wait for the mission to be finished. Thats it.
Download Audio Joiner
