HTML Tutorial 2 Basic Parts of HTML Document
In my previous post, I started writing about HTML. As it was the first tutorial of HTML, I just showed you the example of an HTML document without giving detailed information of that document.
In this post, Im gonna discuss about the essential parts of an HTML document. Essential parts mean those parts which are very common for each and every HTML document. I mean the HTML tag, the Header, the Title and the Body.
Before you start, please have a look at the HTML Tutorial 1 if you havent go through this already.
After reading the tutorial 1 look at the image below:

Here you can see all the four parts that I used in the example document. Lets what are they actually:
The HTML Tag: <html>
Every HTML or XHTML document start with <html> tag and ends with </html> tag. Even if you right click on this page and hit on view source/ view page source option you will see the html of this post. At the top you will see <html> tag, and and the bottom you will see </html>.
That means the whole document is considered as HTML by the browser. So, whenever you create a new HTML document, you must start it with <html> tag and end with </html> tag.
The Document Head: <head> Tag
This tag is placed just below the <html> tag. This is the head of your document. It may include many other tags. Most importantly, the header tag includes the document title, I mean the <title> tag.
The Document Title: <title> Tag
Your document should have a Title. Title should be started with <title> tag and it will be ended by </title> tag. Basically title is the name of your document. It will not appear in the document text! You will be able to see the title just at the browser tab. See the example image of Tutorial 1.
The Document Body: <body> Tag
This is your actual contents. What do you wanna write or create in an HTML document should be within <body> </body> tag. It may include thousands of other tags which are necessary to decorate your document.
By this time, hopefully you have a basic idea about an HTML document and its essential parts. You should notice every tag starts with <> and ends with </>. Actually some tags dont have any closing tag! And some tags dont need to be closed.
Which tags dont need to be closed and which dont have any ending tag at all will be discussed later. And in my next post, I will discuss the different tags used in the Tutorial 1.
HTML is not very tough learn. But the area of HTML is huge. Latest version of HTML is HTML 5. HTML may include new rules in the future just like as new words and phrases are added to a language. So you will never be able to finish your HTML course. It is a life long learning.
All you need is patience to be skilled in HTML. Learn the rules one by one and step by step. Use them in your works and practice the rules. You should be fine with HTML.

Understanding the Parts of a Keyboard

Most of the computer users are confused about the parts of the keyboard. Sometimes users cant distinguish among the different parts. However you can operate your PC without understanding the parts of a keyboard.
Graphical user interface lets you operate computer using mouse. Most of the commands are now performed by mouse. And the advent of touch screen could be the reason of the departure of keyboard! But real PC users cant leave it. Im capable of typing up to 70 words per minute in normal keyboard. But in touchscreen, I simply hate typing. :(
Anyway, today Im gonna discuss about the parts of a keyboard. I was searching information to write this post for few weeks. And Ive been able to collect sufficient information. And now I am sharing with you.
Dont be confused! Im not talking about mini keyboard. Here my concern is normal keyboard.
Look at the image below:

The parts of a keyboard are clearly outlined here. Each part has seprate color. So you will have no problem to identify the 05 basic parts of your keyboard. Indicator lights are also shown as a part.
- Typing/ Alphanumeric Keys: It consists of letters (Q to Z), numbers (1 to 0), symbols (<, >, #, @, *, &, $ etc.) and punctuations (?, :, ;, !, etc.). These keys are normally used for typing. But sometimes typing keys are used to give command if these are used with control keys.
- Control Keys: These keys are used to perform different actions. And can be used alone or in combination with the other keys. Commonly used control keys are Ctrl, Windows Logo Key, Alt, Esc etc.
- Function Keys: Function keys are located at the top. Yeah Im talking about F1, F2, . . . . F12. These kes are used to perform specific tasks. The function of these keys vary from program to program. While booting for an Intel Main Board, pressing F1 will take you to the BIOS settings. And in most of the Windows Programs, F1 will take you to the help dialogue window. F2 will let you rename a folder.
- Navigation Keys: Sometimes these keys are called cursor movement keys too. These keys enable you to navigate through documents or webpages. These include arrow keys, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Delete and Insert.
- Numeric Keypad: This part is great while entering numbers somehwere. These keys enable you to type digits quickly. These include 0 to 9 with +, -, Enter, Numlock etc. Mini Keyboards dont have this pad.
- Indicator Lights: There are three indicators. One is for Num Lock, another is for Caps Lock and the other is for Scroll Lock.
Print Screen Button Tips!
Earlier Print Screen button was used to print the current screen directly. But now, if you hit on the Print Screen button, the image of your entire screen will be copied to clipboard.
- Press Print Screen > Paste it in MS Word, Pain or Photoshop > You will get the image of whole screen there.
- Press Alt+Print Screen > Paste it into another program > You will just get the image of your active window.
- Press Windows Logo Key + Print Screen > Your screen will blink for a second > You will get the image of your entire screen in your picture folder.
