HOW TO CREATE A COLOURED GARDEN SNAIL IN MS WORD

MICROSOFT WORD DRAWING PROJECT No. 25  PART 1

TITLE:   HOW TO CREATE A COLOURED GARDEN SNAIL IN MS WORD

TYPE:   GRAPHIC ART

In this project, I’ll show readers how to create a graphic design with the digital drawing of a garden snail which is at the first place a fine art drawing. Works of art such as drawings, paintings, prints and sculptures that are created for display and to be admired for their esthetical values as well as mediums for artists to express their creativity, emotions and thoughts are known as fine arts. These works are not intended to be produced in large quantities for practical or commercial use. However, graphic art is more inclined to commercial purposes. Therefore graphic designs which are meant for a larger audience are produced in large quantities such as posters, advertisements, magazine covers, brochures, labels, and so on. Graphic artists got to produce works in accordance to the needs and expectations of the clients. As a matter of fact, I personally feel that until now naturalistic works are still the preferred choice of most clients.

Adding colour effects to the drawing enhance its appearance. To create a coloured drawing of the snail, use the tools on the Format tab to create the desired effects. For example, to create 3-D effects for the shell, do the following:

Format > Shape Fill > Gradient > More Gradients, and in the Fill Effects dialog box, choose a colour or two colours and also a shading style (From Center). You can also try choosing an effect from Shape Styles.

Feel free to experiment with the tools to get the desired effects. Don’t worry, they won’t bite!

The Easiest Way to Create Table in Adobe Illustrator All Versions

Creating Table in Adobe Illustrator

Im not an expert either in Photoshop or Illustrator. Well, Ive mid level skill in Photoshop. But in Illustrator, Im simply a beginner. Even I dont have a basic skill in Adobe Illustrator. Few days ago, I faced a serious problem while creating a table in Illustrator. I searched for a long time but failed to find the proper option to create a table.

Today just few hours ago I searched the topic on Google - How to Create a Table in Adobe Illustrator? Many results appear as usual. I chose one from them and learned how to create table in Illustrator.

In this post, Im gonna share with you what Ive learned just now! Yes, here you get the easiest way to create table in Adobe Illustrator step by step with helpful images! Definitely this will help the beginners of Illustrator. This post is not for the experts. ;)

And this method works with all versions of Illustrator. I mean the procedure is same for all versions. Lets begin -

Step 1: Run Adobe Illustrator and Open a New Document by pressing Ctrl + N. Choose any paper size you wish. It doesnt matter.

Step 2: Now you have to draw a Rectangle. Look at the image below to know where the rectangle tool is located. In Adobe Illustrator CS6, the Keyboard Shortcut for Rectangle Tool is M. You can also press M to enable Rectangle Tool and then draw the size of your table.

Rectangle Tool Location in Adobe Illustrator

Step 3: Now you have to split the newly created rectangle. But before that make sure the black color is selected in the Color window. Also make sure the rectangle is selected. Now go to Object menu > Path > Split into Grid... . Take help of the image below if necessary.

Object > Path > Split into Grid...

Step 4: Now you get a new Window named Split into Grid. Type the number of Rows and Columns in the box and then hit OK.

Split into Grid Menu in Illustrator

Wait a minute before hitting OK! There are some other options you need to know. Look at the Height, Width and Gutter. By changing the values of these options, you can increase or decrease the spacing between rows and columns. Select the Preview option to check what happens when you change the values. :)

When youre done, you will get a table like the image below:

5 Columns 5 Rows Table in Adobe Illustrator

Tips: After creating the table if you hit on the blank area of the document, it might be disappeared! This is occurred when no color is selected. But table is still on the document. You can guess the area of your table and select it with the Direct Selection Tool (Keyboard Shortcut A). Then find the Color window and choose black or any other color.

Advice: You can easily avoid the disappearance problem! Before drawing the rectangle, make sure the color (any color) is selected in the Color window. If no color is selected, you should choose a color from there.

Keyboard Shortcuts used in this Tutorial: (Tested in CS6)

  • New Document: Ctrl + N
  • Rectangle Tool: M
  • Object Menu: Alt + O
  • Direct Selection Tool: A
  • Color Window: F6
  • Hand Tool: Space/ H

HOW TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENTAL THEME T SHIRT DESIGN IN MS WORD

MICROSOFT WORD DRAWING PROJECT No. 31

TITLE:   HOW CREATE AN ENVIRONMENTAL THEME T-SHIRT DESIGN IN MS WORD

TYPE:    GRAPHIC DESIGN

I still remember the time when a can opener was one of the most important utensils in the kitchen. Before the 1980’s, most canned food could only be opened with the can opener. Even a child nowadays can open a can easily just by lifting the tab attached to the lid and pull backwards to remove it. I happened to open a can of peanuts one day and after observing the lid for quite some time, I was struck by the idea of using this lid as the subject for a graphic design. In this project, I used a throwaway object as the subject for a t-shirt design where the concept of the design is “Recycle for the Conservation of Our Natural Environment”. Actually, readers can get plenty of ideas for visual art projects by observing nature and man-made objects around us.
Readers can refer to MS Word Drawing Project No. 15 for tips on how to draw a plain t-shirt. After creating the design, paste it on the t-shirt. Below is the graphic design created with Microsoft Word 2007 drawing program. I used only four tools to draw it.  These tools are: Oval, Block Arc, Curve line, and Moon. I also used WordArt to insert the curved shape text into the drawing. Make use of the shadow effects to create emboss or bevel effects to enhance the illustration’s appearance.

This is a simple graphic design with the underlying message that recycling helps to curb pollution and gives us a brighter future and I’m sure that we all want that.

This is how the finished drawing looks like when the design is placed on the t-shirt.

HOW TO CREATE A PEACE THEME POSTCARD DESIGN IN MS WORD

MICROSOFT WORD DRAWING PROJECT No. 29

TITLE:   HOW TO CREATE A POSTCARD DESIGN IN MS WORD
TYPE:   GRAPHIC DESIGN
A postcard has a picture or illustration on one side and it can be addressed and sent without an envelope. A short message is usually written on the reverse side. Postcards are categorized as graphic design because they are printed in large numbers and are used for commercial purposes. Tourists like to buy postcards as souvenir items. Postcards are also used for posting, publicity campaign or advertising purposes. They normally contain pictures on the front side but there are also some postcards that contain pictures and text. In this project, I used the broken heart image to create a postcard design that promotes world peace. The size of the postcard is about 12 cm x 17 cm. The postal system which was once the favourite method of sending information or communication is threatened with the advent of the internet.
(This postcard design was created in MS Word 2007.)

HOW TO DRAW THE PLASTER IN MS WORD?
A plaster is used to symbolize healing. Choose the pale orange colour in Shape Fill because it corresponds to the skin colour and therefore makes it possible to create a realistic looking plaster. Get started by drawing two rounded rectangles.

Fill the rectangles plus their outlines with pale orange colour. Do the following:  Format > Shape Fill > Orange, Accent 6, Lighter 40 %.

To create the emboss effects, do the following: Format > Shadow Effects > Additional Shadow Styles > Shadow Style 18.

(Now you can put this plaster on something.)

How to Create XML Sitemap for Blogger Blog

How to Create XML Sitemap for Blogger Blog
Last week, I discussed about Sitemap. And I said, my next post will be about creating sitemap. However the next post was about Windows 8.1 Activator. So, I dont like to delay anymore. Today Im gonna tell you the easiest way to create sitemap for your blogger blog. Hopefully this will help you boost your search position.
There could be several ways to create sitemap. But mostly used sitemaps are XML and HTML. And I will talk about XML sitemap. Actually this is not worth of creating a sitemap page for your blog. But quite useful for submitting in different search engines. It will just list your pages as XML code. You will not be able to show or view the links as Anchors Text Links.
Look at the code below:
# Blogger Sitemap generated on 2013.11.04
User-agent: *
Disallow: /search
Allow: /
Sitemap:
http://munnamark.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

This is the XML sitemap of Marks PC Solution. The blue part is the actual sitemap link. When you need to submit the sitemap link, you should use the link only. But if you wanna use it as custom robot.txt then use the full code.

If you wanna view your actual sitemap, then copy and paste the URL in your browser. You will get the URL for your posts in XML format. It contains all the URL of your site with many other information which are useful for search engine crawlers.

And you can use the this sitemap for any blogger blog. Just replace my URL with yours. You can also change the date manually. This is a Year . Month . Day format date. You can use the current date. For example, your sitemap could be as below:
# Blogger Sitemap generated on 2013.11.06
User-agent: *
Disallow: /search
Allow: /
Sitemap: http://example.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
Compare the two codes. I made a change in date and in URL. Thus you can also change it as your wish. But dont need to change any other part.
By the way, this sitemap has been generated by http://ctrlq.org/blogger. You can directly visit this page and create your sitemap from there.
  • Follow this link.
  • Copy your homepage URL (http://munnamark.blogspot.com) and then paste it in the sitemap generator box.
  • Hit on the Generate Sitemap button.
  • Now you will get the sitemap as below:

XML Sitemap Example

Done! Now copy and save the code in a notepad file or elsewhere. You can submit this sitemap in bing or any other search engines that support XML sitemap. Remember, use the link only when you need to submit the sitemap URL.

Create New Volumes without Partition !!

Shrink Drives to Create New Volumes

Disk Management is a nice tool to manage your hard disk drives. With this tool, you can easily format, shrink and extend your existing volems. You can do some other tasks too. But today Im gonna discuss about creating new volumes by splitting existing volumes.

Background Story

Two weeks ago, one of my acquaintances got a new laptop. It comes with Windows 8, Intel Core i5 processor and 1 TB Hard disk. Not very extraordinary nowadays. But I was really surprised when heard there is only 1 partition in his laptop!! Can you believe it? One partition for a 1 TB hard disk! My goodness - this is a thousand GB partition!

I know how to split a drive to create new partition. But didnt even try this earlier. After getting the case of 1000 GB partition, I tried to shrink a drive in my own PC. After successfully trying this on my PC, I advised him how to divide the one partition into several drives. By this time maybe he has fixed this. :)

Supported Versions:

Disk Management tool is same both in Windows 7 and 8. Windows XP may have the same advantage but Im not sure. If XP users has any problem, you can inform be through comments.

Create New Volumes Without Partition - No Restart! No Interruption!!

Make sure youre the Admin of your PC. And right now youre logged in as Administrator. Now start -
  1. Right click on My Computer icon from desktop. (How to show My Computer icon on desktop)
  2. Hit on the Manage option.
  3. Computer Management window will appear.
  4. Choose Disk Management under the Storage option from the left pane.
  5. Here you will get the list of your volumes with capacity and free spaces.
  6. Right click on the drive you wanna shrink.
  7. Select Shrink Volume and you will get the below window.
Shink Size Before and After

Here you will get the total size before shrink. Now enter the space to shrink. Simply count the 1000 MB for 1 GB. In the image Ive used 5000 MB for 5 GB. Then check how much you will have in the drive after shrink. Before proceed, make sure everything is okay.

Now Press Shrink > You will get the following image > Right click on the Free Space > New Simple Volume > Pres Next > Enter Simple Volume Simple > Next > Assign Drive Letter (Suppose L) > Format the volume (Choose format type, label) > Next > Finish.

Within few seconds, you will get a brand new drive!

Creating New Volumes by Disk Managment

How to Get it Back?

Suppose you made a mistake. Or you were just trying to do it. But dont want to divide the volume actually. How do you get the new volume back to your old volume? Very simple!
  1. Right click on the new volume.
  2. Choose Delete Volume.
  3. You will get the above image again.
  4. Now right click on your old volume and choose Extend volume.
  5. Press Next > Next > Finish.

This procedure doesnt require any restart. Even you dont need to close any program running on your PC. Its fast, simple and reliable.

Precautions:

While running this operation you should be very careful. Though this tool is safe to use, but you may lose your data for any wrong command. Suppose, you may delete a volume which contains your valuable files. Or you may format an existing partition which contains important data. So, before making a click, be sure youre really doing the right job.

If you have any query, dont forget to leave a comment . . .

Create Short URL by Google URL Shortener

Shorten URLs by Google URL Shortener

Shortening URL is a great way to share large URLs. There are many free URL shorteners. Even some shorteners (ie. AdFly) offer revenue to the users. But I simply hate them. Because it bores people. More than two years ago I wrote about Tiny URL. But do you know, Google has a shortener too?! Lets try . . .

Google URL Shortener

Follow the above link and you will get the following view:

Google URL Shortener Service

Now copy and paste your desired URL in the box and hit on the Shorten URL button. Immediately you will get a short URL in the right side.

Remember, if you are not signed in to your Google account, you have to enter captcha. But if youre signed in, you dont need to type captcha and a list of short URLs create by you will be  kept in your account. You can also view the number of click on those short URLs!

In the list of short URL, you will get detailed analysis of each URL. How many clicks from where, which browser, which operating system etc.

For Example:

This is my sites URL - http://www.markspcsolution.com/

This is short URL - goo.gl/H4ydU2

Have you noticed, just 06 characters after goo.gl. Previously it was only 05 characters. Whatever the size of URL, you will get a small URL.

Suppose, the URL of this post is as below -

http://www.markspcsolution.com/2012/04/how-to-shorten-long-url.html

And the short URL of this is here - goo.gl/sK1ylX.. . And its really short!

When someone clicks on the short URL, he will be redirected to the main URL within a very short time. When youre sharing a large URL via mobile text, it could be difficult for you to type when the copy paste option is not available. But you can share short URL anytime, anywhere. :)

Note: All goo.gl URLs are public and can be accessed by anyone.

How to Create Menu or Tabs in Blogger Blog

Im gonna post a new topic after a long break. Im very sorry for those people are looking for new topics. Actually I was not getting new ideas. If someone is looking for a specific content then he might use this option to inform Marks PC Solution.

OK lets start our todays concern. This post is specially helpful for blogger users who are trying to set Tabs in their blogs. And many of you may not know that there are two ways for creating tabs. Im gonna discuss about both the methods one by one.

Tips for Blogger

Method 1:
This system is powered by blogger itself. This system allows you to create stand alone pages in your blog. Stand alone means you can only post a single topic in this page. For example, Contact Us or Report Us etc. This system may be less popular but still useful for creating a single but important post.

To add Tabs in this system follow the instructions below:
  1. Sign in to your blogger dashboard.
  2. Now click on the Pages button from the left panel.
  3. If you didnt create any pages earlier then you will see only Home button.
  4. Look at the option Show pages as- Choose Top Tabs.
  5. Click on the New Page button to create a new page and choose Blank Page.
  6. You can arrange the position of the pages by dragging them

Remember, when you click on Blank Page from the New Page option immediately it will take to a new page. You should give a name of the page here. You can also write the contents of that page from here or you can just save it and write the contents later.

Note: You can also add a web link in the tabs if you choose Web Address instead of Blank Page from the New Page option.

Method 2:
This system is somewhat complicated if youre new in blogging. But if you can do it then your blog will be just like a website! In this system your visitor will be able to find multiple posts under each tabs! You can do it just by placing the labels of your posts at the top. Follow the instructions below:
  1. Sign in to your blogger account.
  2. Now go to the Layout option from the left panel.
  3. Click Add a Gadget from the top. (Or you must drag and place it just below the Header)
  4. Choose Labels Gadget.
  5. Now click on Selected Labels from the show option and hit the edit button.
  6. Choose the labels from the box below. Never choose more than 8 or 9. Make sure that they can appear within a single line. Otherwise it may create a 2-line tab. That looks very odd.
  7. After selecting the labels hit on Done button and save the gadgets. Now view your blog.
You must remember:
  • Your posts should be labeled properly to appear in the proper tabs.
  • Labels gadget must be place under the header of the blog.
